It’s this weeks issue of the Reconnect Recap! the Joker: Folie À Deux to Reconnect, the games writing discovery platform.
In a week of YouTube children punching old men, there’s plenty of actually interesting stories to share, and It’s my job to tell you all about them.
So lets dig into the best articles to feature on Reconnect over the past week and I’ll even throw in extra cool thing or two.

The Recap
This week we are starting with the toils and troubles of game development.
kicks us off with, Is the system broken, after a record number of wishlists for a certain game didn’t translate to sale. swings the other way and highlights the moments major games such as Apex and LOL knew they had a winning formula.SuperJump Magazine, breaks down the live service formula and why it’s failed so many games in the past, and
looks into how the disastrous GTA remasters landed and how they eventually came right, as late as earlier this month. asks the question, when was the first time a game made you feel uncomfortable? And I was met with flashbacks of Preston Garvey from Fallout 4…. muses over their recent purchase of a PS5 Pro and how the pain in their wallet could have been lessened by being provided a more Apple like experience. strikes again with two more great articles this week. The first dives into the infamous Simpons Hit and Run, and its very active life after death, and how Australia’s new social media ban for those under 16, affects the games industry.One of my favorite games ever is Elite; Dangerous, and this week Classic Game Revival dove deep into the 1984 release of Elite.
talks about his co-op experience with Sea of Stars, and other games he and his wife have played, and someOf course, I wasn’t going to let this week go by without talking about Half Life 2, which Valve is currently celebrating its 20th anniversary by giving it away on Steam with some cool new updates (GamingOnLinux).

In celebration of Astroneer’s new expansion, I want to bring attention to the NoClip doco of the game that was published five years ago. I love every NoClip video, but this one is extra special and occupies a permanent part of my brain. Warning, it will make you cry.
