Welcome to the Reconnect Recap, the Red Dead Redemption 2 Online, to Reconnect, the games writing discovery platform.
It’s still the calm before the storm as the game releases slowly start to ramp up. The Game Awards and various directs are dangling so many promises yet to land so this time of year is normally reserved for catching up on backlogs and sleep, to which i’ve done neither.
What I have been doing is watching heaps of TV and keeping a close eye on all the amazing articles coming through Reconnect, so let’s dive into a this weeks issue where I can share some of the highlights with you.
If you’re on Bluesky, I’ve made a starter pack so that you can follow all the Reconnect writers in one spot. Not 100% complete yet but I’ll keep adding to it.
The Recap
Our first highlight this week is from
as they provide a guide to the family friendly games launching in February. Similarly, we have who talks about some turn-based games coming in the next month.Jumping into a category of deep dives, we’ve got Renga in Blue, who specializes in interactive fiction games, giving us their experience with a game called The Desecration.
Hardcore Gaming 101, dives into the 1980s classic, Chase HQ, and all the differences found in its various versions.
Reminding me that I didn’t finish Remake, Console Creatures, talks about how the ending of FF7 Rebirth is a clear sign that Square has great ideas for expanding the FF7 universe.
How DC and Marvel comics influenced online gaming, is the latest piece by Games Wisdom, and the influences run deep.
Despite console sales being the focus of much of the industries discourse, Player2 echoes what most of us have been feeling, PC is where it’s at. It offers more games, more entertainment, and more flexibility.
Whilst its been a rough few years in the industry, we have some hard data from
that show the investment in video games is rising, slowly, but surely. Finally, we have an ode to the failed Playstation Phone.
is a blog dedicated to Sony’s old hardware, and their latest piece covers off the launch and life of the Xperia Play.Something Extra
Either you're old enough to remember playing Snake on the first cell phones, or you’ve heard about it from us older-folks. Via, RetroDodo, we have something more bizarre than Doom inside a PDF, it’s a version of the snake game that is played on sub pixels, and requires a microscope to be able to play.
