Welcome to the first Reconnect Recap for October, and I donโt know about you but September vanished in a flash.
But like always, the gaming news and commentary didnโt stop, and Reconnect has been overflowing with awesome article this week, so letโs dive in.
Iโve also included an extra fun thing and my latest article below ๐
The Recap
Whilst Balatro surprise released onto Apple Arcade this week, GamingOnLinux has a sneak peak into a similar game called Pip My Dice, which is very much in the same vein and has a demo available for you to try out.
In the category of โthings from my childhoodโ, GamesAsylum has details on an upcoming Patrick Star games, and Console Creatures has news about an Avatar the Last Airbender AAA RPG that is in the works.
Returning to my favorite topic, the SteamDeck, GamingOnLinux has a breakdown of this Months Humble Bundle and what games will and wonโt work on the Deck, and Overkill.wtf has released a companion app for both IOS and Android that shows you the right settings per game for your steam deck as well as guides and reviews.
Industry legend, Stephen Totillo, outlines his thoughts on Ubisofts tricky financial situation over on his newsletter GameFile and my favorite video game analytics blog, GameDev Reports has last months stats on downloads and playtimes in todays biggest games. For example, Ghost of Tsushima has sold over 13 million copies, and iโm probably going to be 13,000,001st buyer after that Yotei trailer.
And finally, Player2.net.au has news on a new Australian Game Studio opening up, which for those that donโt know, the industry in Australia has been hit pretty hard as studios have been slowly closing over the past decade. Many awesome studios still remain, like League of Geeks, but the government doesnโt offer any incentives like the US, Canada, and NZ do to game studios which, alongside its geographic isolation, doesnโt help foster a healthy games industry in OZ.
Thatโs all for this week, check out all the linked articles, and yell out if you have any ideas or suggestions.
Enjoy your week.
Something Extra
I was watching a video this week from Gameranx about how someone had put Governor Tim Walz into Crazy Taxi because it was believed to be his favorite game, and it turns out the genius behind this mod is kinda known for doing this sort of thing, including making a Final Fantasy like RPG thatโs all based on Frasier Crane, from the TV show.
