Welcome to the little sister newsletter of Reconnect, the games discovery platform.
This week was filled with metaphors, leaked Pokemon’s, and as many Goku variations as your heart desires and that’s a hard act to follow up, but I’m going to try!
As always I’m going to share some of the best articles to show up on the site in the past week, I’m going to show you something cool that’s not from the site, and i’m we’re going to feature another writer.
So let’s get started.
The Recap
As a long term Destiny victim player, news of a Destiny mobile game, is interesting, what makes the new mobile title more interesting is that it’s being developed by NetEase, which has to deal with expectations from the Destiny community and pressures from the Chinese Government (
Talking of pressure, the upcoming Dragon Age, is going to be a lot of pressure on EA, and Bioware and apparently the best way to play Metaphor: ReFantazio is on hard mode.
This week we got some exciting game announcements, a three player shooter set in the Control universe, and a co-op Subnautica were shown off in the Xbox Partner Preview. Not to mention, we’re getting another Tron Game, whilst this time it’s not from Bithell Games (one of my favorite devs), they are involved in the development.
Moving into the emulation space, because I find it fascinating, the genius’s behind the Analogue Pocket, are making a new console, and we think we know the reason why Nintendo has been going after Switch emulation with such aggression.
Rounding out my final suggestions, we have a guide on how to make villains in games more impactful (
) and a day in the life of being at fighting game tournament () in Puerto Rico.Something Extra
When I yell my catch phrase GAMES WRITING ISN’T DEAD, i’m not just talking about the online blogs and newsletters, but also physical print.
This week I’m sharing the latest entry in the 32 Bit Library, Volume 4, by Darren Hupke,
Each book is an homage to a selection of games from the original Playstation Library. Darren plays each game, captures screenshots, writes retrospectives, gets contributions from people in the industry and then packages it all up into these vibrant books.
Whilst Volumes 1-3 focussed on specific publishers like Konami and Capcom, Volume Four goes wider and covers games from Square, Atlas, Enix, and a few more.
If you’re interested in reading and owning some great writing on classic playstation games, check out Darrens link tree!
